I have several themed lists coming, but here is a long-ish non-thematic list consisting of several of my personal favourites in anime and manga. Spreading the good word and all that.
Golden Kamuy
Why I love it: It’s hilarious and well-paced. Honestly, it’s surprisingly deep, too.
Xam’d: Lost Memories
Why I love it: Mature, inventive, beautiful.
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Why I love it: Hardcore, thoughtful, beautiful.
Wolf’s Rain
Why I love it: Thoughtful, beautiful, incredible dub, unique story
To you, The Immortal
Why I love it: Gritty, truthful, deep and unexpected
Suijin no Hanayome
Why I love it: Subverts other yokai bride tropes, is set in ancient, ancient japan. Very thoughtful and sweet. Reminds me of Princess Mononoke atmospherically.
Speaking of Princess Mononke, did you happen to know that Kaya is not Ashitaka’s sister, but his betrothed?? In the Japanese version, she refers to him by a ‘big brother’ title that does not necessarily indicate a blood relation, but seniority.

So, I’m starting this off by saying that I personally love Ashe. She’s a strong female character who clearly doesn’t take shit from no one and I think shes a good addition to McCree’s past. Now the issue that I have with her isn’t her fault at all.
The issue I have with Ashe is that the Overwatch fandom treats her like absolute shit and are being hypocritical.
Ashe hasent been introduced more more then a few hours and she has already been subjected to being called a mistake as well as people saying Blizard is shit for not making her different. Now, do I think Blizard should have modeled her a bit differently then the other female chractesrs? Yes. Diversity in womens features are important; however, I also know that Blizard is a company that doesnt care much about whether they cut corners and use an older model as a base because its cheaper that way. Im not saying that Blizard is forgiven for doing this, its a bad way to make a new character, I am saying that creating new chracters and new content is expensive and that Blizard would want to save money like any other person would.
The fact that Ashe has the same base as the other female chracters is really big and irritating thing to people; however, its not as big of an issue as Ashe’s skin color.
People have been pratically rioting over the fact that the first conecpt art for Ashe depicts her as a black woman and that blizzard changed her to be white. Now I understand that not having a black woman in Overwatch is fucking irritating. I want a black woman just as much as everyone else! This isn’t my issue with people complaining. My issue is that
IF THEY HAD MADE ASHE A BLACK WOMEN POEPLE WOULD ALSO COMPLAIN THAT THEY ARE VILLAINIZING BEING BLACK!
THIS is my biggest issue with the current complaints for Ashe. I have a feeling Blizzard didn’t make her black becasue they knew they would be creating their first black women to be a villain and they didn’t want that for the fans. They changed her race because they wanted to wait to make a black women to be a hero instead.
BUT NO!
You people still arent content! You all act like Ashe being white is a crime and yet if she was black you would still be accusing Blizzard of racism.
Lets say it louder for those in the back!
YOUD STILL CALL BLIZZARD RACIST IF ASHE WAS BLACK!
Id also like to say that calling a person or character shit for being white is also discrimination.
So yes, those of the Overwatch fandom who are complaing about Ashe’s skin color are in fact hypocrits because they wouldn’t be content even if she was black, they would still find the slightest detail and critisize her for that.
Now, the only way blizzard could fix this shit is if they finally made a hero who is a black women and made sure that she was someone that would benefit the gameplay, lore, and fandom.
